I loaded sp2 and now cannot boot (system just cycles in boot sequence).  I don’t have recovery cds.  I have built generic XP in the 3rd partition and I can see everything in the 2nd (boot) partition - it just won’t boot.  Can I create the CDs at this point so I can reload everything correctly in the 2nd partition, any ideas on fixing that broken OS,  or do I need to order the CDs from Sony?

Just hit F10 when the vaio display is on the screen. You’ll start sony recovery that is in you hd. Then recover the whole disk.
