I’m going purchase a TR, and wanted to know if the TR5AP is the lastest and best TR produced before the new T Series came to market?

Also, I see that some TR5AP models come with 512MB of ram but I thought I saw their specs at a standard 1 GB ram.

The TR5 series had just model - the TR5AP and that always has had 1 gb of RAM :?

1GB is standard for the TR5AP (using two 512MB modules)

@Rahul: Yea true, you could always upgrade it later on with that Swissbit 2GB ram upgrade though I think. But that’s extremely pricey.

Well, I wouldn’t say the best TR.  I am not very knowledgeable about chipsets and whatnot, but judging from the evidence, it’s probably a better deal to purchase an older TR3A over a TR5AP, only because it’ll most likely be higher discounted, and the new TR5AP only gives you .10 of a processor boost and 512MB more RAM.  Considering you’re looking to pay MSRP for the 5AP, around 2100 $US, versus an older TR3A for about $1500, you can judge for yourself if it’s worth it.

I agree, not to mention the DVD-RW drive that comes with the TR5AP. I was considering getting a TR5AP myself but it wasn’t really worth all that money.

I thought any of the TR’s could take a max of only 1 gb (or to put it better any of those RAM slots can take a max of only 512 mb).

2gb is possible .
