Going to pick out Christmas gifts tomorrow. 

I can’t decide between the TR3 or the S260. 

All I am going to do on it is

1. Internet
2. Office programs (word, excel, powerpoint occasionaly)
3.  Play Final Fantasy Online
4. Media(music mainly)

That is all I want it for.  I like the TR it’s smaller, and has more memory.
I like the fact that the S has bigger HD and better graphics card.  I have played on an S, but never seen a TR in real life.  Please help me out.  Thanks

Dunno about Final fantasy, but for the rest TR should handle them easily.

Think about what you want from your laptop and if your really going to take it anywhere. For most things you’ve mentioned, TRs your man for the job. But then again the S260 can do all those things faster and more efficiently. Plus the TR cannot handle graphics at all, your should go for the S if you want to play games, online or otherwise.

Yeah, I totally agree, the TR’s good for everything; portability, looks, size, you name it, you got it, the only thing that it is lacking in, is the graphics department. It does not have a stand alone graphics card. So, if you are planning to use your laptop for gaming, the S will be a better choice. 

it is cheaper to have a desktop and a laptop.

desktop for gaming, laptop for mobility.

That way, the email, xls, docs are on your laptop, your games are on the desktop and there is lesser chance that a game or a virus will mess up your work machine

Yea. Im planning on rebuilding my desktop and when my S just happens to “break”  ... I will get a T. For mobility with a decent desktop that has a 20.1” wide Dell ...

But… if you wanna save some money, get the TR if you want expandability get the S. I LOVE and miss my TR but am very happy with my S as it is my ‘one and only’ right now. It handles everything beautifully and the only way I would go back to something smaller is if I have a nice desktop.

It must be nice to have an S with so much power and so many options. If there is anything i hate about the TR using one for the past 6 months, its the fact that there are no options for upgrade. I’d imagine they’d be getting the faster more spacious HD out for the TR soon, but its still quite distant future i’d imagine. But hey i wouldnt mind taking the plunge and upgrading the processor on the TR i have. Currently i have the 1.1 banias. I dont know if its the most feasible option but i’m in love with this machine and i dont think i want to get rid of it, EVER.

Well I went looking today.  I saw the new T, but no TR.  I got them to unlock it so I could see the size of it, and I think I would rather have a smaller one.  It is just so small and portable.  I could take it everywhere.  I just will only play games on my PC, no reason really to take them with me.  My mom liked the T because it is new and we couldn’t see a TR, but I told her I would rather have the TR, not worth the price increase just for a dvd burner and bluetooth, to me.  I don’t use those things that much.

Get the type S.  I’ve tried the TR and the T.  Both very nice notebooks…But, IMO the screen is too small and it doesn’t have enough power…

I wanted a sub-notebook really bad so thats why I went for the TR…And then I wanted the T because it was new.

If you do choose to get the T or TR…Pick the T…Its a little better built…IMO.

I now have a dell 700m…Which, I am very happy with. :wink:

If I could only justify one computer and wanted portability I’d look at something like the S. For pure portable joy look at the T or TR.

Get a S series notebook.  Coincedently,  not a minute ago, I have just seen this laptop at Oprah right now—fav 2004 things.  Sigh, I should have been a teacher, like what others have told me :oops:

Because you said Final Fantasy online, I think S series is the way to go.  Graphics, of course.

Personally, I am just fine with TR screen size.  Though, I have to admit that it gets abit annoying when using photoshop—and I have been using it alot.
