Went for 2 PSP Value Packs working out at £275 each with p&p at £20. Bought two so I can split postage cost & sell one on ebay to either break even of make a little profit!!!

Soon as they arrive (3-5 days) I’ll attempt to post pics & opinions and list the second one on ebay for UK buyers.

Just to wait for what import duty/VAT I get hit with now :|

That reminds me of my PS2 adventure. 4am on line at CompUSA, snagging 2 systems…one I sold on ebay for $750, the other I kept. At that time the memory card was also scarce…I made a few dollars on that as well.

Well everybody else is doing it so I might as well get some profit back to offset the higher cost of importing.

I lost out with the PS2 slimline as my old PS2 died a couple of weeks ago forcing me to buy one of ebay for £155 (normal shop price £104.99)

Well, the PSP’s are due for delivery today before 6PM (only about 50 mile from where I live doing the rounds in the UPS van at the moment).

But, the bloody game I ordered from another site a few days before as not arrived yet so looks like I’ll be using it as an expensive MP3 player today

If it arrives in time I’ll take some pics or post a few comments but I’m out tonight for a Christmas “Piss-Up” with the lads so may not get chance.

First experience of UPS and yes they are Plonkers.

The PSP’s took one & a half days to get all the way from Hong Kong to Dewsbury in the UK at 6am yesterday then spent all day on a van to mack it back to the warehouse in Dewsbury.

I spent quite a good few minutes on the phone telling them exactly what I thought about them - arseholes!!!

Don’t deliver at weekends so now have to wait until Monday :(

Well they finally arrived but my game is still in the post somewhere :cry:

The first thing that hits you is the build quality & clarity of the screen which is nearly as good as our TR XBrite!!! Stuck my 512MB DUO PRO card & experimenting with Movies, Pics & Music.

Easily connected it to my wireless broadband router but had to go back from WPA to WEP as PSP doesn’t support WPA. It easily checked itself out over the web to ensure it had latest firmware.

Only managed to get a movie converter that produces QVGA format movies but its still very good on the screen & easily usable as a portable DVD/Movie player.

Only tried some mp3’s but sound quality is great & better in my opinion than the TR but not quite as good as my Rio Carbon.

Just have to wait for the game to arrive now!

Not going to post any pics as there are plenty at Gamespot, IGN, Play-Asia & Lik-Sang.

Overall, it looks pretty decent unless you’re using the Wi-Fi which seems to be the biggest battery draining feature on the unit. For most in single player situations it should probably be more than enouhg. Of course, for multiplayer activity you’re likely going to want to pack the charger or a spare battery.

I doubt it will. Sony is a much more powerful company with many more resources. Also, I don’t think they could face the embarassment of failing at this endeavor so you can bet they’re going to throw mad amounts of money at it. Sony already has a increasingly worse reputation in Japan so this thing needs to succeed for them.

Isn’t it true that supposedly they’re losing massive amounts of cash on each PSP sold? Somewhere in the range of 150-200$?  I also heard that Sony Corp got its credit rating turned from A+ to A over the last month of so due to financial worsenings.

Nearly all companies lose money on their hardware. The original PS, PS2, XBox, and Gamecubes all lost money when they came out. Over the years, all the companies refine their processes, source cheaper parts, and begin to recoup costs on new factories built to manufacture these things. As a result, they start turning profits on the hardware. If I’m not mistaken, the last rev of the PS2 with the better DVD drive (along with the new slim model) are the first models where Sony is turning a profit on the hardware.

We all know…the money is in the software. It’s SCEA’s job to turn out good titles to keep them afloat.

When I got my TR I couldn’t stop smiling, looking at it & cleaning it (sad I know), I get the same feeling with the PSP.

“It makes my Nintendo DS look ancient”. Enough said.

As an all-in-one portable media device it can’t currently be beaten!

Has your other PSP sold on ebay? If so where did you buy the origional 2 from? Also are they in English, keys software setup etc…. Also are the games you are buying in English.  Where is the best place to buy them?

I am stuck between paying £280 for one from Japan or £350 for one from supposed UK with a game, or waiting till March and paying an estimated £175.

Any regrets psikey?

Well, hopefully mine should be on its way shortly too - I paid £359 for the value pack plus ridge racers, but with christmas in the middle i don’t know when it’s likely to turn up..
