Hey all, iI’m new to the boards, so dont mind my noobiness. I found someone who is iwlling to sell me there TR1 plus a whole bunch of extras for $700. Should i go through with it? I think its a decent deal… :D
well, i asked him if he was willing to do C.O.D. He suggested we use http://www.contranscomp.net , but since i never heard of that company, i told him i would feel safer to use UPS C.O.D. Hopefully he will be ok with it…
no money back guarentee or safety net. sorry if i’m going to cut myself a nice deal like that, i’d use credit cards where they protect it to a little degree.
COD is a great idea… you lose a bit, but atleast you know you’re not being screwed.
It does sound risky but he could just be trying to promote that company after having good experience and some pity for them being a small company with great support… but $700 does seem like a scam.
If he refuses COD… dont take it. Why take a chance with that kinda money. Unless your that type i wouldn’t do it. (But i am very much a cynic..)
[quote author=“Dennis”]willl they let me check the contents without paying first?
it really depends…if you know the UPS driver who comes to deliver or if you can explain to him the things he might just allow you to inspect the item before handing him over the cheque.
I’ve had a few bad experiences… its always good to be sure so make him open the package before you pay the money. You have to know the fact that once you hand the money over its gone and you aint ever getting it back.
Be verrrry careful - TR’s seem to be the target of many scammers unfortunately - it’s prevented me from putting mine on Ebay, having watched so many auctions where the buyer didnt pay or bad things happened to the purchaser etc etc.
$700 sounds like a steal - maybe it IS stolen? Personally I wouldn’t risk it.
Good luck.
If he’s ok with the COD offer tell him to go ahead and send it and once the UPS driver arrives with it, tell him you’d like to check it first and then pay him, if he doesn’t allow you to check it, simply refuse the shipment.
I am sorry but I won’t do C.O.D. cause I have a bad experience from the past when they trashed me a monitor that I sent through UPS. That is why I prefer this company because they have the package insured and when I send something they inspect the merchandise and give me in written the condition.
I hope you have nothing against it and I also hope you’ll understand my point of view.
Thanks
James
This is my reply:
If you have had a bad experience with ups, we can use
FedEx http://fedex.com/us/services/options/ground/cod.html
If you dont like FedEx, I am willing to pay for
insurance from ups for the laptop. I just dont really
know that company that you sent me, and i would feel
alot safer doing it through a COD option from either
fedex, or i pay for insurance for UPS.
I hope that we can come to an agreement
Thank you.
