About 6 months ago the fan in one of my sony laptops died and the machine was overheating and dying with the dreaded blue screen of death. It went to Sony for repair and they gave the fan a clean and it started working again. Ever since the incident I often get a lot of continuous hard drive access - much more than I got before. It’s intense to the point that it’s noticably loud because it goes on for much longer than you would normally expect.
I have done a reformat and a complete scan of the hard drive and no problem has been identified yet the issue does not go away. During the scan of the HD using the manufacturers utility the drive was extremely quiet which makes me think there is a problem elsewhere.
If anyone has any ideas as to what might cause something like this or what I can do next to start eliminating possiblities, I’d be extremely grateful.
Many thanks,
Chris.
