[quote author=“Anonymous”]i have looking at the fujitsu p5000d or the sony tr2ap3. i want 1gb or ram and am not to sure about the size of the hard drive (40 or 60gb). has anyone actually compared these 2 computers or have used both. i would appreciate the input on which one i should buy. im still leanign toward the sony, because of the sony name and look. i have heard good things about the sony screen and am not to sure about the fujitsu. do both look the same in the sunlight outside? again, any input would be helpful. thanks.
I’ve spent a lot of time evaluating both and they’re both great machines. It’s hard to argue one fully better than the other. It comes down simply to preference. The Sony wins in some areas while the Fujitsu will win in specific areas but as systems overall it’s hard to choose a real winner.
1GB of RAM on the P5000 is currently an expensive proposition since it only has one ram slot requiring you to purchase a 1GB module (~$600-800). On the Sony TR it’s less expensive as 512MB modules are going for $199 (or less in some cases). If 40GB is not enough for you, the P5000 can accomodate larger sized hard disks internally. The Sony screen is brighter and has a higher contrast ratio (and glossy) but neither screen is really that great outside. I really don’t think you’ll go woring with either machine but you really should try to find a way to see them in person if you get a chance. I suggest writing down what your needs are and then purchasing a system that best meets those needs. Obviously, you don’t want to buy something that will be obsolete too soon but you also shouldn’t be buying something that you’re going to make the most out of either.
