I suspect that for most applications one wouldn’t perceive much, if any, improvement. The slow HD imposes its own limits on the machine. The faster processor and larger cache might buy 10-20% on processor intensive tasks like video rendering. Even there the savings may not mean much since one would normally start the process and go do something while the machine crunches away.

The new chips are likely to be premium priced and I doubt there’s much market for the old ones. Upgrading the processor makes the machine non-standard well beyond things like bluetooth modules or wireless cards. Heat could also be an issue.

Personally I don’t think it’s worth upgrading. The next generation notebooks are likely to have better price/performance if the T is any indicator. Besides faster processors we can expect larger/faster drives and, hopefully, longer battery life. Who knows, they may get thinner and lighter too.

I agree…I see little performance boost from going from my TR3A to my T150…Its a matter of preference for your needs…

If you need a dvd burner and bluetooth and haven’t done any of these upgrades…

It might be worth it to sell your TR and get a T150…But, If you are like me and don’t utilize BT or even use the DVD burner…

Its really not necessary…I did the upgrade because it cost me no money…And I knew I could only get maybe around $1300 for my used TR…And to buy the TR with these specs would cost me near $3000 ie, TR5AP….

I feel I made a no brainer decision…But, If I didn’t have the option to trade straight across.

I would second guess just spending a couple hundred…Even that I would get BT and a dvd burner…

Its really depends on what you need and what you’ll be using it for…

Like I said I have never used my dvd burner or my BT…

Maybe one day I will…
