I finally got around to trying this update on my US model TR with PCGA-BA1/A USB Bluetooth adapter.
I found that the update works like a charm and seems to recognize more devices and services.
You’ll notice that the interface has changed a little with the new light blue scheme and smaller initial icons. When you click on the devices it zooms up and shows you more information.
The link for the english version is: ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Vaio/BlueSpace/BluespaceNE_330010140_EN.EXE
Yes, I occasionally use a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse with my TR when I’m at home. It’s fairly easy to setup and it works well.
The Polo-R is my desktop computer which you can read about here . I have a D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth adapter on there. The interface is very different but it plays fairly nicely with the Sony Bluetooth stuff.
[quote author=“Mrs Gadget”]Why do you bt connect your pc’s, since bt has such a slow transfer rate? what do you use the bt between them for?
I do it mostly for testing as I have other Bluetooth devices laying around. Also, sometimes it’s much simpler to send over smaller files over Bluetooth without having to map network drives. I just right click and send and it automatically sends files over to a specific directory. Even more importantly…it’s just more geeky to send stuff via Bluetooth (as long as it’s not too big)!
1. I carry my BT dongle on my keychain and I use it with my machine at home (VAIO RZ desktop) , work (XI Workstation), and the TR1. I guess this might be more of a T610 question, but each time I try to add a new device on the T610 its like it wants to replace the each other. I mean if I have TR1 added, then I try to add my VAIO Desktop, it tries to replace the TR1. I did make sure and give each a unique name in each instance (ie TR1, RZ36G, WORKSTATION). I guess my question is, is the device more “dongle dependant” or device dependant. I mean if I get two BT dongles and leave one on my desktop and one on the TR1, will it solve the problem?
2. I was wondering if anyone has any info on the MS software that pluts an icon on the desktop and into explorer called “My Bluetooth Places.” Is this a MS software thing? I noticed it on the SonyEricsson site for the T610. There was a small screenshot of it in the background.
To me, this seems like a better integration into XP than the Bluespace software. I mean if you can access your bluetooth devices under My Computer, just as you do any other drive, local or mapped, it seems like a wonderful thing.
1. Another dongle should fix your problem. I think your phone is getting confused because the devices have the same MAC addresses.
2. I believe that’s from the WIDCOMM software, which is pretty popular with dongle OEMs. I was under the impression that the Sony software was “better integrated” than WIDCOMM because it required the MS BT stack to be released in XP SP2. I had better luck with it at any rate.
i have not tried the sony software yet but this works with a t610 mobile and the sony tr1 with a generic chinese csr BT dongle. i installed BlueSoliel from http://www.ivtcorporation.com, which is yet another non-standard interface for XP. it works great for what i do- sync phone pictures, sounds, etc. and sync phone organizer with outlook.
i had many problems with other stacks and software, and finally this combo of IVT and the dongle allows me to use the phone software that came with the T610 (theme editor, etc.) as well it’s own sync services.
i was writing about this on a mobile forum but forgot which one, lot’s of others switched over to IVT with good luck. anyway, in regards to Bluetooth Neigborhood which i did have installed, that was crap, as it looked like XP explorer but it was NOT! drag and drop was not supported and some other things that made it even more confusing as the interface looked like XP, but it wasn’t. good luck!

gr00vy: Seems to be the same file I found last month after Mrs Gadget posted about it. First time I ran it, I noticed the changes, but the version number remained at 3.1.00.03310. You getting the same thing? At that point, I just uninstalled it and went back to the old version. It wasn’t giving me any problems.
Mine actually shows 3.1.00.03180…which is weird considering the setup files shows that it’s a newer version. I also noticed that it seemed to support more profiles.
At any rate, I’m having some trouble getting the Bluespace NE software to recognize my Sony Ericsson phone (Z600). Actually, let me rephrase that. The phone shows up fine with all of the services. However, when I try to enable DUN via Bluetooth it looks for a driver (which I don’t seem to have) and then fails. The phone works fine for DUN via IrDA. Also, the other Bluetooth functions seem to work fine as well…it’s just the DUN. It’s driving me crazy… :?
I bought a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard/mouse [diNovo Media Desktop] for my TR2AP3. Works great except I hated that USB-to-BT-hub that Logitech used—it is bulky.
So, I got myself the SONY PCGA-BA1 since it looks so much nicer and cleaner. Installed the software that comes with it, but it could not recognized the existence of the Logitech devices.
I had tried installing the “updated” BlueSpace that Groovy posted but I did not see any file being installed when I double clicked on that exe file.
I want to get the MS Bluetooth mouse but I also want be able to connect my T610 to me desktop, and any other BT devices I may get in the future. I have read in this forum that the MS Bluetooth adapter is a POS but the mouse is nice. I was thinking of getting the DLink for permanent connection to my desktop, that way I can have the MS mouse and connect my phone to it anytime.
Anyone tried this? Will the Sony BT dongle recognize the MS BT mouse?
The Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse can be used with the Sony Bluetooth USB adapter. You actually have to use the Windows XP Wireless Link control panel tool to setup the connection instead of the Bluespace NE software. When you set it up be sure to choose the option that doesn’t require authentication.
