Trouble Going Full Screen on Games

With Unreal 2004 I can hit the hotkey on the LCD and itll max up to full screen no problem.  I tried the same with FF7 and FF8 and it beeps and thats about it?  Anyone able to play either Final Fantasy 7 or 8 on full screen settings?  Am I just missing something or is it not going to happen.
