ahhh…i was wondering that myself…

so being a microdrive means that in normal wear and tear you could severly screw this drive up…(despite the fact it says “rugged”)...because its like a normal hd but smaller?

A microdrive is a tiny HD. Basically it’s a mechanical drive with heads and all…I’ve had several over the years and haven’t liked any of them for various reasons. Anyway, for this type of item i’d personally be more comfortable with flash.

Well, whats the ruling would you suggest buying this?  I’m not a very adventurous type, do you think this would work out for me?  I could use some storage I can transfer.

If you don’t really need 2GB I would go with a name brand 1GB flash. The problem is 2GB Microdrives are made by reputable companies such as Hitachi and IBM, but there is also a 2.2GB drive made by Magicstore or something like that, and its prone to failure. Although this might be a real 2GB drive, for the price it seems unlikely.

So its a no-name brand device with a questionable drive and its about twice the size (physical) of a comparable flash drive.

Flash you can be a bit more rough with and not worry about moving parts because there aren’t any…

I see your point, I’m usually transferring softdisc files from a buddy’s puter to mine..so I needed something that can fit the large size.  Glad you told me, I was about to lay down some money for this.
