I just did my restore (I installed a wifi driver that completely killed my wifi and it was just easier at this point to restore). iCube uses Norton Ghost as their restore, so it brings it back to factory but I have no option of removing the partition…i’ll just do that myself. Restore took about 15-20 minutes from start to finish…just boot to the first disk and hit ok. Simple and painless. The best part is my wifi is working again.
If your WiFi card is a PCWA-C300S black card, there are some updated drivers available for the regular white C300S.
I’d also recommend to visit US X505 support site as well as the JP for the latest drivers and maybe software updates (in case you have not thought of it).

The US drivers would not install, the JP ones are the ones that made my WiFi go crazy. I have contacted iCube about the utility, i’m sure they have a working copy. My WiFi does work fine now, but I am still limited to 64 bit.
[quote author=“tifosiv122”][quote author=“TruthSeeker”]Does anyone have pics of the TR and X505 together? I have not seen an X505 in person. I would love to see the size differential. I know tifo sold his, so he may not be able to deliver on this request.

Wow, the thickness comparison is amazing. However, the top down shot shows they are about the same size (dimension wise). Looks as if the optical drive is the biggest factor in the thickness. I can see why you are getting the attention in class, Erik.
Fantastic review, tifosiv!! I don’t know how I missed this, but I’m very happy your X505 arrived!
Your review has just motivated my reason to acquire an X505; I thought I lost the crave about a week ago, but upon reading this, there’s just so much to it that I’ve missed!
How is the screen? I don’t think it’s as bright as Xbrite, is it? But is it bearable at least? Very good? That’s my main concern; ever since I saw Xbrite, I wasn’t sure if I could survive with anything else after I compared with other friends’ laptops.
Let us know how the keyboard replacement goes!! And congrats on your new acquisition!!
And thanks for gr00vy for setting up a new X505 forum.
