Yeah, most people don’t seem to understand that the Jog Dial was discontinued a few years ago and is actually almost as scarce in Japan as it is in the US (on eBay). I had one of my friends in Japan ask around for it and shopkeepers were puzzled why he was asking for such an “old” item…especially since it doesn’t officially work on WinXP (even though it does).

Honestly, I never used it…I thought it would be this handy feature, but it was a pain having it stick out of my TR. I never listen to music on my TR, 99% of the time audio is muted anyway. I would have used the jog dial to open programs, but the start menu (or short-cut keys) are much easier.
The Jog dial does not have a backlight…thats actually something that bothered me but i didn’t realize it at first.
Maybe other’s will get more use out of it then I did, but mine sat for at least 6 months in a the closet.
Yeah, same here…although I do use it occasionally when I’m relaxing…normally I’ll be at Borders or some coffee place where I can read and listen to music. So, I use the jog dial to control the music playing so I can keep the laptop closed. Of course, it’s not necessary but fun to use sometimes.
I do wish it was more programmable or had more direct media buttons on it and also wondered if they could make something like the new remote used in the MZ-NH1 (which is sweet) HiMD player/recorder.
wow- those are some nicest pics I’ve seen of the T-series. Actually I am getting to like the look….
At first when I saw it on sony’s site I thought it looked ugly or just not up to my taste.
But, now I have changed my mind…This is a very nice looking machine. Looks like a mini “S.” I am not going to go as far to sell my TR and get one….
It will take a little more than a little eye candy to give up my TR.
But, for consumers in the market for a new sony sub this could be the one. We all like to have the newest and the greatest. And for the guest coming in and checking out this forum for what sub they should get….
I think we suggest this one since its comming out soon in the US….

I’ve been using Float’s Mobile Agent (FMA) with my SE T68i phone. Just installed Winamp lite (6K memory overhead) just to play mp3s. I can use the phone to control play, pause, next, back, etc.
I haven’t been able to get the playlist portion to work, but I think I have something misconfigured. I think part of that function could deliver a URL for internet music. Still learning, but I just installed it yesterday and using the phone as a remote was fun. Could be usefull.
Hey all,
I did ask about the remotes, but even in the largest electronics I encountered, a huge one in Nagoya, nobody had them in stock. I was told they would need to be ordered. No surprise to me, since I was looking to pick up a new set of noise cancelling earphones (NC11) and everybody told me the same thing, that they were not in stock and I would have to order them! I finally managed to pick them up at duty free…
My comment on the T displays in Japan—the batteries had all been removed, which did not allow prospective buyers to see the enormous bulge in the back which it creates. Other than that, though, it is light and handles really, really nice!
No, the batteries aren’t removed to be sneaky or anything. It’s usually to prevent theft of the batteries themselves. Seeing how much a Vaio replacement battery goes for, it’s a smart precaution! Isn’t that the case in most laptop shop displays?
