After 8 months of research, on Friday I finally decided on a new laptop - TR5. It arrives Tuesday. I’m so excited, its going to be great.

I’m also getting a free Roomlink thing with it - not sure what it has to do with the TR5, I don’t understand what it is; something about streaming dvds and video to a tv…who knows. When I was on the phone with Sony Style Canada, I was so excited I forgot to ask!

After the TR arrives I’m ordering the extra capacity battery.

Congrats, Nice to hear you did your research.  And over 8 months at that.  You must really know what you want. 

I feel in love with the TR at first site.  I am still favoring this machine over the new line-ups with sony and its competitors.

the tr5 in canada sells for 3499.99 CDN. In US funds its about $2700.

at first the only thing i totally needed was long battery life, huge, to use on wireless networks.

i saw the tr back in march and did some research on it, but never considered seriously. can’t remember why. anyways, i decided on an ibm, a t42. so I ordered it, waited 3 weeks and then sent it back within the first week cause it had major wireless problems. it totally put me off ibm.

so after the ibm disaster, i started looking again. i can’t remember how i got back onto the tr’s.

i’ve been reading as much as possible about the tr, here and at other places, but this forum is the best. i went to a sonystore and saw the tr and got to try it out - totally awesome. i waited for a bit to see what the t series had.

i’m glad i took the time. there’s so many laptops to choose from. tr’s the best.
