[quote author=“Drachen”][quote author=“dbs”]They often seem to have a PT Barnum attitude toward consumers.
I read an article the other day that had an interview with the Vaio product marketing GM talking about the business-oriented B-series. He said that most of their consumer notebooks get updated every 16 weeks, but the B would be updated every 6 months to a year. They were hoping to get the cycle up to 18 months.
I’d love to think that it’s just a case of corporate ADD, but I’m way to cynical.
With Sony cynicism comes easy.
A 16 week update cycle is nuts. It’s like the T was released just because “something” had to be released. I guess it’s part and parcel with the consumer “bigger, better, faster” squirrel cage.
I think my antique TR3 and I can get along fine for another year or so. For my mobile needs a slightly faster processor, bigger drive and DVD write are dubious upgrades. For now I’ll hold out for thinner, lighter and longer battery life.
