[quote author=“Anonymous”]Uhhhh, try upgrade. overall smaller, thinner, lighter, faster processor (Dothan 733), and bluetooth! and your main defense for it being a downgrade is a silly webcam & mic? lol. it’s funny you say their bias, but your the 1 who appears bias because you own a TR and now Sony has released a successor better than the original.
See, this is exactly what I’m talking about and one of the negative things about cowardly anonymous posting.
First of all, let’s get all the facts straight. The TR did actually come with a Dothan 733 processor in the final US market release. So, it isn’t faster.
Secondly, Bluetooth was a shipping option for all markets outside the US. So, you could get it legit. And for those of us who didn’t…we added it so it was functionally the same as the Japan and European markets.
Finally, have you ever considered that there are people who actually use the webcam and built-in microphone? For those people (and I’m one), this is a downgrade because now we’re forced to carry along yet another device. The convenience of having it integrated is more than you can imagine. Obviously, people who don’t use it won’t care and that’s perfectly fine. So, yes. I am biased (and never said I wasn’t) because I actually use those features. I teleconference with clients and often record client meetings (pasting them directly into Microsoft OneNote to annotate my notes). It’s a very powerful combination.
So, even though it it’s marginally smaller and lighter, it’s functionally less capable for me and other TR users thus making it a “downgrade”.
If I didn’t use those features then the type T would be more favorably looked at. Heck, I might even buy a P7K series (though i wouldn’t due to no integrated BT, another technology I use everyday).
