[quote author=“gameson”]i will check everyday to see. when it shows up, i’ll buy right away. i don’t use GPS now, but it might come in handy later on
the reason i ask about PC card GPS system is that when you want to be portable (not in the car), you don’t have to carry two devices (well, you can put the belkin GPS in your pocket or bag or whereever) but it defeats its purpose, u know, having to bring two things. the TR and the GPS have to be together, if u forget one, u can’t use the other.
and also, nowadays u can see that lots of companies come out with PC card solution, like vodafone in UK, if i m not mistaken, selling GPRS PC card so people don’t have to actually use their cellular phone for internet.
linc, how much did u sell it for? after ebay fees, etc, how much did u make? $1? $5? $10?
If you’re just buying for “mayby later” why don’t you just buy it and worry about the antenna if you ever need one?
The whole setup is designed for a vehicle. If you want a GPS to tromp thru the woods, get a nice handheld unit. I think some of the high end handhelds have bluetooth so you can have the best of both worlds.
PC Cards are just peachy, but a GPS needs to see the sky, where all the little satellites are.

well, the antenna only costs $25. if i buy later, with s/h, it will cost close to $40. if i buy with the GPS, i only pay one time s/h. save more $$$.
i only want to buy the antenna to install in my car. if i have to walk, i’ll probably pocket the GPS and use my TR to go around the block
btw, does anyone purchase the euro CD? maybe we can make a pool, someone buy one and make copies to share with someone, of course whoever wants the copy must pay a fee. what do you think? i don’t mind having the copy and pay some fee as long as it’s reasonable price. anyone want to volunteer?

Count me out, besides my other obections to that, I have no itention on going to Europe and needing GPS, i’ve been there several times and had no problem asking cute women where I was going…
[quote author=“linc”]thanks tifosiv122. appreciate it.
gameson - maybe something like this may work since it uses the same mcx connectors.
i’m waiting on the antenna as well..
NO! The belkin antenna also has electronics and is powered by the GPS. Beyond that the antenna must be designed for the frequencies being received. Remember, you’re trying to receive signals from low power transmitters 12,000 miles away.
[quote author=“linc”]damn. hope you can get flash it back with the orignal(if you can find it). i haven’t update mine yet.. sorry to hear that.
Cant, I tried several times.
I did find something out. To switch the setting you need to use a pin…the switch isn’t a switch, the switch is the tiny hole…use a pin and slide it over…
Anyway, default setting 1 Sat, switch over (XT I think) i get 12. I am going to call belkin for a replacement.
