For Targus light, how’s built quality.. i’ve never seen the real one, but it looks fragile to me. :cry:  tell me it is not. :wink:

Thanks, I just recently started using that wallpaper…else my fav ones used to be the beach one and the original wallpaper that u’ll see on TR in ad’s.

The build quality is excellent…no problems as yet for me…as long as u dont intend using it for tennis or baseball it should last u a long time

That would be so sweet. Just the letter lighting up slightly, like how the caps/scroll/num locks light up, only dimmer and not green.

:idea: I think the bomb would be an LED illuminated key board.  The border to each key and the letter/symbol would be illuminated all in red to reduce irritation to the eyes in low light.  There would be a switch to turn off/on the light; possibly with the touchpad illuminated too.  Depending upon the power usage.  But, led uses very little juice… that would be sweet.

There’s no reason for red to be used to keep low-light vision. After all, they’re positioned right below a big, bright LCD screen. Red LEDs typically mean warning or danger. It’s not a soothing color and will tend to agitate the user.

yeh, i dont know which one id like better honestly red or that green/blue color… i just thought since it was lower on the light spectrum… the dash in my last tacoma was green/blue and hated it my new one is red and it is much more soothing on the eyes.  I dont know; with the screen turned down red would be sweet. 

While we are at it, why dont we put in a switch so you can have green/blue and i’ll take red.  the strength of the light has be in synch with the strength of the screen.  And then there needs to be a trim for the synch…

I would agree with you that red is better for a car… it’s just that there’s a huge difference between driving a car in low-light conditions where it’s entirely dark in the cab and you’re typically staring at darkened ground and using a computer in low-light conditions where you have a huge glowing panel shining right in your eyes.

Light blue and white a more neutral colors and are more often used in these applications. If you want to see a nice backlit blue keyboard, check out an Apple Powerbook one of these days.

Solution 2: Learn to touch-type.

yeh i touch type and never look at the keyboard (the right shift key on the tr took a little getting used to).  If I had a backlit board I would probably never use it ... just babl’n ... I would rather have the battery power.  I think white would be nice… I think I have seen the apple; just forgot about that feature.  I almost went with an apple instead… for me it was just about 6 of one half dozen of the other… didn’t really research it though and havn’t had one since the 2e… lol

The LED on the IBM uses almost no battery…thats the beauty of it…I did a test once, I think I had 1-2 minutes of use less with the light…we are talking about a 4+ hour battery…
