[quote author=“linc”]i thought people were turning their optical drives off to save power..
it does come with an external dvd burner..
Yeah, but when I turn the power on, I have a drive…
I’m not impressed with the X505. It comes in little bitty peices you get to keep track of. The Wireless Lan Adapter, VGA/Lan Adapter and 5-in-1 Memory adapter all get to fight for the single PCMCIA slot. I still haven’t figured out what the hell a mousestick is. If I think I might want a drive, I get to pack it around too.
Since Sony doesn’t think small accessories weigh anything I’ll estimate the weight of the three adapters at 6 oz., the x505 is 29.6 oz and the drive is 14.5 oz. which comes to 50.1 oz. or 3.13 lbs.
The x505 has a 20g drive, the TR a 40. The x505 has XGA 1024x768, the TR 1280x768. The same people who say the X505 offers up to 4 hours run time give the TR up to 5.5. TR has a modem and a webcam, should you ever need them. I can hold a loaded TR in one hand, I can hold a loaded x505 in a bag.
But it is black and has a sexy nickel carbon case.
