I thought it was a good article.  Not groundbreaking, but it bellows the obvious.  I look forward to seeing the same article written about mechanical hard drives.  (linc…..popcorn!!)

I thought it was good too… about 7 years ago when apple did away with them and I first started a lot of “death of the floppy” articles. The Compaq Legacy Free PC was a big deal about 4 or 5 years ago and Dell has had floppies as an option only for the better part of two years. How about something more timely like Intel’s spanking new P4 architecture?

I don’t know, floppies seem like the easiest way to transfer info amongst archaic computers, like if you’re going into one of uni’s many computer labs and you don’t know what to expect, it’s something of a safety trigger.

Yeah, i agree that it’s the easiest way to get acesses data among old computer. BUt i hated it sometime. Flopplies are too slow and capacity are too small…

So… Floppies will die soon
....  CRT will die soon.
and.. i will die soon as well :( ..

not to mention the lack of reliability..

There is a parallel theme in that book likened to The Matrix.  Nobody can convince you of what is inside.  You must experience it for yourself.

I agree. I have flatscreen monitors for the computers where I do my work. But for viewing pics and movies, CRT beats any flatscreen I’ve seen. I figure TFTs would have to catch up in this respect before CRTs can become endagered, as the only difference would then be the size.
