Just when I thought I had gracked wireless networking, I am now stuck again.
Unfotuantely, it could be a number of reasons why the thing doesn’t work, but here is the jist.
I cannot connect to the internet through my desktop using my wireless, I used to be able to fine, it seems that although the signal is showing as strong ( via my access point) it is not strong enough to carry data? I can ping the desktop but the results themselves are not all equal, and I can find my desktop through search for files and computers.  I can even see the folders/drives on my desktop but when I click on My documents my laptop freezes. I cant see my desktop in my network places. The whole thing is very strange.

What had I done that might have caused this?
I connected two more pcs via the access point, but they are turned off at the moment.
I downloaded some video via the firewire to make a dvd, I thought that the firewire port might be affecting the set up, but I have disabled this in hardware and still no joy.
I know that my laptop can see my desktop with the internet connection as when it can’t it shows the cannot find server page, and that doesn’t happen, I am just left waiting with a empty web page????
If this makes sense and any one can shed light on the whole thing I would be very grateful. As far as briding goes I don’t think that any of my connection are bridged.

I had a similar problem that drove me nuts as well, my TR2 would drop connections when the battery was low.

I did 2 things to resolve it…In the power management tab for the wireless device, I changed power management from “automatic” to “maximum” which is 6. Ultimately, I think that this was the solution as the TR2 would try to save power when the battery was low.

Secondly, I downloaded the latest driver for the centrino wireless card from the Sony website http://ciscdb.sel.sony.com/cgi-bin/init.pl .

Actually I don’t think it is a power issue as I often run the tr on ac power.

However it does seem to be something to do with my firewire port? I have now re-enabled it and my laptop can see my desktop quite quickly and succesfully, even download a web page just, BUT my desktop still can’t see my laptop!!!!! why is that?

What is the gateway and do we need to fill it in? i have static addresses for all my wireless networking. I also use a proxy (analogx which is free) on my desktop so I can access the internet.
At the moment i have disabled zonealarm.

I can’t however download the wireless driver every time i try it tells me that its unable to process the ftp request, anyone know of any other way of downloading this file?
Meanwhile my problems seem to have stemmed from using my firewire in some way.
