Sounds like a plan…I could see one of their salesmen ask who makes that notebook we all pulled out
Erik
Yeah, all of these debadged TRs with “strange” blue lights on them…what noteboook is that? Then there will be those of us with PCGA-JR1 or JRH1s flaunting them and preaching the creamy goodness of jog dial, a technology that is slowly disappearing…sniff..
Let’s do it once..
do you guys know where is the biggest sony store in LA?
I was heavily involved with a computer user group for many years. If we actually did something structured, there’s a good chance that Sony and even accessory/peripheral manufacturers would cough up things like T-shirts, hats and even nicer items for door prizes.

Nice, I didn’t think of that. The Beverly Center sounds great Linc. dbs do you know who we should contact at Sony to arrange this?

Not Sony…I know what you mean, I’ve done things before with computers and cars *seperately, but you can just tell when certain companies won’t care…Sony is one of them. Maybe it’s me…but I just get the feeling they lost touch with their customers.

I know exactly what you mean. What I’ve dealt with is only bad customer service here in the U.S. I wonder if its the same in Japan?

Sorry, I’ve not been involved for about ten years now. The best approach would be through promotions or marketing (often different departments). Once in a while you can attract the attention of general management and they’ll come through with something. Back then Sony wasn’t a player in the PC game except for monitors. Most of the big players had staffs that concentrated on the user group community. Some of them are gone or merged now, but they included Microsoft, Borland, Symantec, Adobe, IBM, Quicken, Novell, Wordperfect, Lotus… pretty much who-was-who in the industry. Everything changes, so I don’t know what the current situation is. I’ll call some old friends and see what I can find out.
Anything we did would have to be “real” and they’d want to know how many would be in attendance. You can always get marketing to send someone to talk product and, when the gods smile, sometimes they’ll send an engineer who’ll tell you what’s really going on.

Most of FL has no power, i’m sure hes fine, just can’t get online.
Erik
Thanks for the concern, guys. Yeah, I lost power for a couple of days. I am also in need of a new roof, unfortunately. :(

Thanks again for the kind words. The insurance company will not pay for a new roof, and a patch job will only look ugly. So there goes my end of the year upgrade spree. I guess its the price to pay for living in a tropical paradise.
Its all good. Life is way too short to get down about it. So lets talk more about this convention!!!
