I’ll stick with paper or plastic…they can get rid of the kind that jingles if you ask me.

The technology appeals. Yet it somehow feels a bit Orwellian.

It’s no more Orwellian than credit cards. Your wife might not know what you spend on porn per month, but Visa does.

You’re right, of course. It’s just that something about it gives me a little twinge. Perhaps it’s having all those numbers in one place with a handy wireless link designed to hand them out. If/when the day comes, I’ll likely use the technology, but I don’t think I’ll be an early adopter.

I’ll stick with current money technologies as long as I can.  I like being able to physically hold my money (for the most part, just minus checking and credit card) and that way if the system that stores my “money” goes down I can still buy things.  Yes I don’t trust computers enough to watch over all my money.  I still like a paper trail to back it up.

I imagine we will always have a mix of both cash and an electronic substitute, such as credit or debit cards. It would take only your password or card to be lost and somebody would have access to all your money, if everything were electronic. And if you want to have a small float for emergencies, then use the card where you can. If your wallet gets stolen with your cards, then you can always borrow cash off someone; how would you borrow cash off someone else’s electronic system?
