I have no regrets about my 40 GB iRiver player . I get at least 12 hours per charge with the thing.

well, I’m delighted with my Creative Zen Xtra 40gb - no remote, but cool as a cool thing. Good price, great performance, and a removeable battery too.

Dodgy headphones, but easily replaced.

Honestly I would consider a Dell Jukebox.

I am not sure about the IPOD, but I got so sick and tired of the digital rights managers on so many devices.  I am a long time supporter of the Sony Mini-disc, but the whole convert your MP3 to ATRAC, check in—check out thing was just ridiculous.  Same thing for the two Panasonic players I have.

I got the Dell Jukebox as a gift, and you just click and drag MP3’s from the HD to the player ... done.  No re-converting to proprietary format (which takes time), or having to deal with the crazy restaints of the DRM software.

what’s the battery life like on the dell jukebox?

Well I have never actually run mine down all the way ... the web site says 20 hours ... and I think I remember CNET saying that was on the money in their review.

Wait…iPod has DRM? Can’t I just drag all my Mp3’s to the ‘hidden’ subfolder on the iPod and forget about them there?
