[quote author=“jso902”]my old 505f had the same design.
they have a pretty good life span.
i recall my 505f 233mhz was able to stay on for about 3.5 hrs
boy was that computer light… In fact, that computer makes this computer seem a little fat. Or should I say plump
i wonder what my life would be like had i opted for the x505 isntead of the TR…
I would have been an ANGRY life… you may have ended up killing yourself for the stupid decision. No:
> Optical drive
> Built-in wireless
> Good battery life
> Good processing power
I could never deal with that. Maybe you could though…
[quote author=“tifosiv122”]You must watch as much Simpsons as I do…lol, I love when you make references to it…
I knew you would appreciate it! :D I just have an astoundingly good memory. (except when it comes to Mel Brooks jokes) That show will never be equalled, although I haven’t seen it since I got rid of my TV about 6 years ago… I’ve got to pick up the DVD sets one of these days.

Haven’t got one myself (cant afford it) but they are pretty special; who needs an optical drive. I can wirelessly access the DVD drive on my desktop and even install stuff from it. And having the wireless as a pcmcia card isn’t too bad - easy to upgrade .
The 505 is one styling computer. Very sleek looks and just screams quality. It’s certainly a tech toy for the rich and shameless, but that said if i could find a cheap one it’d certainly be my second computer.

It wasn’t that bad. The only thing that would really bother me is the lack of an optical drive (because i like to watch movies). i had no problems using it. Although, i do find it a little funny that they couldn’t fit the memory stick on the computer .
unfortunately, i haven’t seen the x505 in action for myself, but I did see the Toshiba Portege R100 last night. my friend has it and it is an amazing machine. unfortunately, batterly life is only 1.5 hours or so. i’d like to see the x505 for myself and compare vs. the tr.
and drachen, he used a flash drive with his ultraportable!
[quote author=“the dude”]i got my x505 the other day and to say the least i am completly in love.
it was a toughie between the tr5 and the x505, but the decicive factor for me was the fact that the tr5 heats up so quickly. i mean it would have been nice to have the DVDRW drive built in and the bluetooth and such, but in the end, i really think that the x505 is the way to go. when all is said and done the x505 is half the size, it comes with a nice wireless card, and has a 3 hour batt life. and if you are willing to get one from japan, you can enjoy the carbon-fiber body as opposed to the nickle-carbon body on the x505 from sonystyle.com. and its ice cold after 3 hours-
is it possible to buy the x505 carbon fibre version from japan, but to change the built in keyboard to european standard, and also that it works afterwards like the new keyboards keys say (software question i guess)???
ps: unfortunately fell in love with the x505
you are not the only one.. i think its possible to convert it but theres always a chance of not getting everything to work.. i don’t know if i like that too much in a brand new system.
