[quote author=“everbrave”]Hello everybody,
since I got no response on my posting, I made my own thoghts and came to the following conclusions:
I reinstalled all applications! The reason is that the free space I get on the disk by not installing or removing apps is not worth the trouble repairing broken apps. Windows OS is not as transparent -to me- as Mac OS (X or 9; although there is a difference!)
I will remove an app only if a conflict is expected with another.
Thanks
*I* didn’t answer because I’ve never done a reinstall and, frankly, have no idea what little quirks Sony may have hidden in their applications. You should be able to ignore the packages you don’t want with no ill effect. The only place I’d forsee possible problems would be with applications that the Sony-centric software might have occasion to call. This is just hypothesis, but, for example, the sony media server may look to find the soundstage audio, the windvd player and the picturegear apps. I doubt anything serious, XP system-wise, would be broken.
