Oddly enough, in Sony’s Back to School 2004 catalog, there’s a picture of the VGP-CKS1 semi-hard slipcase for the Type S notebook.
Why is this odd?
Sony does not currently sell this case domestically in the US yet it’s pictured in the ad. Good work ad people! It’s a shame that we American customers often get inferior models compared to our Japanese/European counterparts but it’s even more cruel to tease us with products that we will/may not get.
For what it’s worth, the case only works with the standard battery installed much like the CK5T for the Sony TR series. You can get this case from Smart Imports if you’re interested in it.
Snazzy looking case, though I’m a bit peeved that a week after I got my S sony had a clearance model up with the same specs for $500 less. Since my Waterfield case worked so well with my TR, I’ll probably be getting one for the S soon.
Yeah, I asked Waterfield if they had an S specific bag but they don’t. They recommend the #5 sleevecase but I’m concerned that it won’t fit exactly right. There seems to be a little too much room on the sides (1.5 inches). I think that’s enough room for it to slide around so it makes me a little nervous.
[quote author=“sillyrabbitt123”]hey cellery what was the clearance model and where was it on sale? sony site or like at a circuit city?
thanks!
It was on the sonystyle.com site, they still have a ton of S series configurations left. I ended up going with a 1.7GHz/60GB/512MB/XBRITE/Radeon 9700/DVD-CDRW/WLAN/Bluetooth model, and it was almost $2500. An almost identical clearance model was under $2000. :(
don’t worry, it was worth every penny. i bought my tr2a for 2100$ and it’s still worth every penny to me. the webcam is priceless, the pictures on the machine is priceless. the styling is still amazing.
my last computer was a 233mhz vaio 505F. The first of the slim 505s. the things was 2200$ 7 years ago (i think it was 7 haha). people still think it’s a state of the art computer.
if i always worried about how much my things will lose value, i would never buy anything and i’d never enjoy myself. just say you induldged yourself in a beautiful thing

thanks for the links all!
cellery how did you pay for it? AMEX? if so they might refund you part of the diff.
That’s not the S-Series slipcase pictured, so it isn’t so weird, actually. That’s the A-series binder thingie. It has no endcaps like the S-Series slipcase does. That’s why you can see the ends like that.

Ah well, i guess i could have been mistaken. The fact that the girl is using a Type S on top of it is odd. I haven’t seen and A-series thing that looks like that…even on the Japanese site.
Yes, that is weird. It looks like the average college student carries around two laptops…a small one to use and a bigger one to use as a stand for the smaller one. Plus, I can’t count the times I’ve spontaneously used my laptop in the middle of floor of the quad.
That girl sure knows her stuff though…she’s accesorizing with a P900 phone! I wonder if she’s using the school’s on campus Wi-Fi or if she’s using her P900 as a Bluetooth modem with a GPRS connection…
i also found a neat bag at GAP store
it’s the official gap “laptop case” and for some reason, it fits the S Series PERFECTLY, even though most laptops dont have the S dimensions. I bet Sony paid GAP to make it like that .. haha.. I bought it and i really like rite now. I’ll post up pics if i can later.

Can you seriusly do this??? That’s what I’ma gonna do if I can. I’ve tried it on my friends cell at my house (Ericsson t610) and used my WLAN and the same time… but I didn’t notice anything… I tried to bridge the connections and tried it w/o bridging… ntn worked. Any idea how to make this work?
