Is it just me or every time I try to log in the forum is down?
What is going on?
Did anyone forget to pay the electric bill (hehehe :D )

Very rarely for me…did you try to hit refresh?

Several times ... I even closed my browser just in case.

Odd…i’ve had it a few times here and there, but like I said, it’s rare, and I’m on all the time.

Next time it happens to you, run a trace route.

Go to start->run->type ‘cmd’->hit enter->type ‘tracert http://www.siliconpopculture.com’->hit enter

You’ll see where the connection goes bad. Write down the IP. Next time it happens repeat. If the IP is the same contact it and let them know there is an issue.

Been on a lot, day and night for quite a few days now, never a problem.

I can remember just one day when it was down.

I’ve never once been unable to get into the forum… must be a bad IP :?

Why do some traces time out?  What exactly is that anyway?  I’ve never really payed much attention to things like that but have always wanted info on it…exactly how you connect to site after bouncing the signal from possibly dozens of other servers… potentially making it very easy for someone to view what you are accessing…  :ph34r:  sorta scary… plus all the subnet workings… always wanted to learn about it… seems pretty interesting… nerdy, but interesting. 

So far everytime I’ve logged on the forum has been up.  But granted I haven’t been logging on that long either.

guess its just you..

I found out that it’s our network at work - it occasionally prevents me from accessing the site.    weird   :?

I remember having problems accessing a few sites from my uni. a few times. I think this was one of them.

You’re not the only one, TR3MaNiaK.  I have had some ups and downs lately with the site.  It sounds like its on our end since very few people are having difficulty.  I seem to be able to connect much better from home.  At work the site often hangs.  Problem identified.

Solution:  I’ll just stay home. :ph34r:

Some traces will time out, no problem.

Basically your asking for the ‘path’ your computer takes to get to the site. Its almost like a roadway, you go out of your driveway, on to your street, then to a main road, etc…

If one in the middle is taking too long or timing out when it shouldnt that means there is an issue with that system and you can contact the admin to fix it, they may be unaware.

It also happened occasionally to me at work. It was solved after I set up proxies. It never happened at home.
