jetguy: generally speaking, not everyone needs 802.11g. in some cases, it’s worse than 802.11b when it comes to signal strength at a distance. however, if you regularly move large files between systems or stream high bitrate media files, 802.11g can be extremely useful and necessary.
abakshi: yeah, there’s still no exact clue what the chipset is in the TR2AP3. i’ve been scouring the net looking for miniPCI cards that might fit in our TRs. It’s especially hard since our miniPCI slot is of the type IIIB variety which is smaller than normal and not generally available.
I have found two different brands that might fit in our notebooks. I’m considering giving it a shot and opening up my TR and seeing if an upgrade is possible. More updates on this soon.
