Is anyone know the black magic to change DVD regional coding in TR?? Is any farmware available somewhere in the internet??  I got TR form Japan, and I am really like to watch American DVDs… Please, Please Help Me!!

Well, you should be able to change the region of your drive 5 times before needing to re-flash your drive’s firmware. If you go into the Device Manager then you should be able to go to the properties of your DVD/CDRW drive and change the region.

A region-free firmware isn’t available the last time I checked, most of us who watch DVDs from other regions use a program called DVD Region Free . It’s a bit costly but I had to bite the bullet to watch R2 DVDs from Japan.

Show did you get dvd regionfree to work? I installed it, and when I try windvd (the one that came with my tr2) it tells me cannot playback content from this region. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling dvd region free but no no avail.

That’s really strange, I just ran the installer and DVD Region Free worked like a charm after that. I watch DVDs from different regions, and the counter on the drive says I still have all of my region changes left.

When you launch WinDVD, does DVD Region Free automatically launch as well? Is there a tray icon for DVD Region Free? Both of those are present on my machine when the DVD region blocking is in effect.

I guess it doesn’t autorun… hmmm…

Guess the regular version does not work for me, but lite seems to… but it stops loading some dvds for some reason.

Under the DVD Region Free options, there should be a list of programs you can add to have DVDRF autorun with. WinDVD was already in the list, but I had to add PowerDVD manually for some reason. It worked great with both after that.

Edit: Re: your second post, what DVDs are you having trouble with? I have a mix of R1 DVDs from the U.S. and R2 DVDs from Japan, and they haven’t given me any problems. Some grey-market HK flicks from my local comic-book shop have locked up the drive, but otherwise DVDRF works like a charm.

I’m using AnyDVD without any problems.  My TR2B was bought in Malaysia and is used in Australia (Region 4).  I have tried quite a few of my US Region 1 DVDs (including the ones with RCE) and they also work.  :D

you don’t have to pay for DVD Region Free, there are crack programs all over Kazaa and the internet. I have one for version 1.20.
