The other part is that it depends on how the movie was encoded. There are various aspect ratios used in widescreen movies and some fit better on 16:9 monitors than others. You’ll notice on the back of some DVDs they say 1.85:1 or 2.35:1. One of those fits better on the TR’s screen better than the other…the worst that will happen is that you may see very very small black bars on the top/bottom.
If you use “real” DVD software like WinDVD or PowerDVD you can typically adjust movies to fit on the screen entirely as they use various stretching/cropping tricks.
