have u seen this? have u used an old one? post ur comments here! personally i might be interested in the 80Gig to replace my 40gig ipod that’s getting kinda full…but i won’t be the first to make the jump, thats fur shure.
This is yet another consumer electronics device market that I just don’t get. Music is a background activity. It’s something you can do while riding a train, walking, jogging, working, posting snide messages on the Internet or performing an exorcism. Humans are tremendously visual creatures, so we need to dedicate a lot of concentration to specifically watching a video. I just don’t see a need for people to lug a video device wherever they go.

so u would vote “forget it, leave it to the ipod and TR” eh? I tend to agree with u, but it seems inevitable that video will creep into mp3-like devices no? to be honest, i use my ipod when riding my motorbike around asia - its one of my most favorite things to do. and if there were a way to play a movie while i was about to take a nap under a nice bamboo grove, i’d do it! i would of course only last a few minutes before i started snoring, but that’s just like home. BTW, just saw Day After Tommorrow at our local cineplex and wow, so cool! We all started laughing during the intermission/smokebreak (we have those here!) when it started pouring down monsoon rain.

You are blessed with more common sense than I originally thought…....impressive.

That sounded perilously close to a compliment.
[quote author=“tifosiv122”]Not a big fan of Archos…i’m waiting for Apex’s version of this.
If you’re interested in the genre, also worth checking out is iRiver’s as-yet-unreleased PMP-120 . They’re not Apple, but they have a good mix of style, features and geek-friendliness.

I’m going based purely on price…I know Apex quality is decent at best, i haven’t had any issues with any of their products, they just use cheap materials, which doesn’t bother me because these are novelty items IMO.

That company became a running joke with my friends once they announced a game system with a name like this .

I personally think it will sell, set-top, plays all current games, no other BS, $400-500…
I don’t know about that. It’s a bit expensive for a game system and it’s running XP embedded, so it’s not a true computer (in the web-surfing, Word document editing sense of the word). It’s also chasing a moving target. I realize that you don’t need a Pentium4 Extremely Expensive Edition and a Radeon X800 PE to run a game for a TV, but the Athlon 2000+ and GeForce MX are starting to get pretty long in the tooth. how well will it run pixel shader-intensive engines like Doom3 and HL2?

I think thats why the system is delayed…For what this system will cost some people spend on the videocard alone…its hard to compare the two. It will blow the Xbox and PS2 away, and since PS3 is over a year away they will have some time to themselves.
