If the S is targeted towards businesses…how come we don’t get the souped up models here in the US? The model they’ve currently released seems too “consumer” too me…but then I’m not normal.
The more I research the S-type the more it looks like I’m going to move a little upwards to it. I’m still leaving some room for a “real” upgraded TR but in light of the recent reviews of Intel’s next gen allegedly DirectX 9 part, I’m less than enthusiastic about it. The part is faster for the most part but it’s still lacking hardware T&L which is seriously going to hamper it. Even the Radeon 9200 part is significantly faster in most things…but I still want the 9700 part in my next notebook.
I’ve found that my computing habits have changed a bit in the past year so the slightly larger form factor and additional one pound of weight will be acceptable for the 3” larger screen and the performance enhancements. Of course we’ll see what happens in the next couple of months…there’s always new stuff coming out.
Ok, that was a nice digression.
Actually, I thought Sony had been trying to target the biz sector for a while now. Maybe they really are serious about it now…but if they are, then they’ll need to offer a lot more. For instance, better warranties (multi-year, international), better support (quick turnaround, cross shipping, onsite techs), and more robust models (better memory, storage, security, recovery options).
