yup its in 2 parts…the smaller one is supposedly the battery/charger. But it also happens to be the place where ur power cord and firewire cable gets connected. So, u have to have it at all times. It’s quite silly…even though its a charger, u have to connect the power cable when using it with the TR (since the TR uses the 4 pin interface, power cord has to be connected) and on my desktop which has the 6 pin interface, it’s connected for days together and still stays on (so it probably draws its power from the motherboard).

There is a USB one too, but it was much more expensive than the firewire one so I purchased the firewire one.
I bought it earlier from securemart for 317 including shipping, etc.
As far as the transfer rates go, as could be expected it’s no where close to 50 MBps but I got speeds like 700 megs in 1 min (~10 to 11 MBps) when I transferred an avi to it from the TR.
