My sony TR3AP1 is in my hometown some place, as it is comming from NewEgg.com, I’ve been paying atention to fedex tracking too much. I can’t wait for this thing to come.

  So any way.. what should I do first?

Do I back up and burn off that extra partition?
Do I go out and buy more memory?
Uninstall all the extra sony crap that they put on there?
or do a full reformat?

well personally I’d make the backup discs as they’re always good to have.  Then I’d play with the installed programs to see what you like/need, then wipe it all and start again so you know what you’ve got on there…  But then I wipe my hard drives about once every six months so I’m pretty used to it!!

I did all except for step 2 since I already had 1 gb RAM :D

well, the TR3 is my second TR, and i am not someone who loves to install/reinstall software (although i spend half my life doing it), so I suggest getting more memory and an external hard drive and then just letting the little thang purr the way it is. all those folks who upgrade from XP home to Pro are freaks, and there is really no need (ya can always install a better 3rd party web server other than IIS). the nice thing about the TR is that everything works out of the box. good luck!

Well I got my TR yesterday. ITs got XP pro, and I’ve pulled off alot of crap that they had on there, curently setting up the Recovery disks.

I don’t see a need to reformat quite yet.

BTW: This burner is cool! Faster than the one in my desktop! (I never had the money to upgrade the little things, I’ve been able to wait usualy.)

congrats rocket boy! what burner do u have, CD or DVD?  I am curious on the performance of the built in DVD burner, as I could not get a TR3 here in Nepal that had one, and now I am looking aT external burners….or perhaps a TR upgrade?

I only have the TR3AP1, so its just a DVD-ROM and a CD-R drive. the CD drive works so well! I’m amazed!

LOL, rocketboy: Next thing on your agenda ought to be checking the gaming tab on this Forum, as the TR’s video card is actually capable of quite a bit of pixel-chocking.  I use this on the go as a CS machine, and it hits 40-60 FPS, so it’s rather playable.

i know, i just installed g-force visulaizations for itunes and that rocks!
