No I’m not having this problem with my new TR3A, but did have it with the silver paint on my VAIO SRX99, so I want to know if I can expect it to happen down the road on my TR3. Specifically, the paint would start to chip/wear right at the seam of the upper and lower case halves where I would pivot/rest my right palm at times. Heat and friction from where we rest our hands while typing can obviously test a finish.

The TR finish does feel different. I hope Sony discovered the paint on the SRX series was a problem and corrected it in the TR series. Any input as to how the finish holds up from longtime TR owners would be appriciated.

Also my thanks to all of you on this forum!!!!! There is such a wealth of info here that Sony would do all new buyers a service by adding a link to “TR World” on all new TR’s they ship.

I have a little bit of wear at the right rear corner where the silver has worn off and black shows through. Other than that tiny spot, my TR’s case has held up really well in the 7 months I’ve owned it. The left button on the trackpad is also wearing, it seems like the protective coat has come off and the silver is flaking off at the edge. Not as bad as on my SR17K though, I’ll probably just order a replacement part from Sony if it gets to distracting.

My TR has seen some heavy use, and there are just a couple of minute wear marks on the top near the motion eye - they were there when I got the laptop, as it was a ‘display’ model.

It was great going through all the photos people has taken whilst in store with the motion eye…

I take myTR to almost everywhere i go (not in the bathroom tho) :mrgreen: . There are several marks and scratch all over. There is one at the lid where"VAIO” located. A couple at the motion eyes.And alot on the Keyboard..  :cry:

The silver finish on the right button of the trackpad on my tr2p3 is starting to show signs of wear after about 4 months of extensive use.

I got mine exactly a year ago and have had it on for most of the time since! I do use it a lot. No wear, other than self-inflicted scratches and scuffs. Nothing bad though, which is good, as I’ve taken it everywhere around the world with me.

From what all of you are saying, it sounds like the paint holds up to normal use on the TR series.  Thanks for the info
