Is it posible to replace the 30G drive with a larger one?

You could theoretically put one of the 40GB drives from the TR2 (and above) in your TR1, but I don’t think anyone’s really put in the effort for an extra 10GB.  You’re pretty much out of luck if you want any more space beyond 40GB.

That said, you can always try one of those 2.5” external hard drives.  I think a good number of them can get power off the USB power, so you wouldn’t need an AC adapter.  Or, you could do what I do and set up a huge file server and access it through WiFi.  :-D

I have the sony 80 gb firewire giga vault drive. Since our TR’s have a 4 pin firewire port the darn thing has to be powered externally to run….otherwise it can supposedly run for 5 hrs.

Has no one investigated using the power out socket next to the firewire port? I presume a cable could be made up to power any external 2.5” hard drives etc.
