could someone please explain to me the adds that appear on ebay all the time offering you a chance to find out the address of a website where you can buy sony laptops for only £40! Does this explain the huge amount of sony laptops always available on ebay?

Its most likely a pyramid scam…you wait forever for your electonic item…I doubt this is the reaon for the large amount of TRs on ebay…the price of the TRs on ebay are standard, nothing too cheap to be true.

heres the way it works. The seller send you a pdf or some other form of communication giving you a website address sort of like http://www.globalsources.com/ - which is actually one of the addresses most commonly sold. It tries to link up suppliers (especially chinese manufacturers) with wholesale buyers. Then you get these instructions that say something along the lines of:
You ave to send a fake order enquiry asking about the cost of ordering 1000 units and request a sample unit.
Then you are supposed to reneg on the deal and keep the sample. It’s a total scam.
They claim all this stuff like “i got a widescreen TV, a laptop and more’, but the fact is no supplier in thier right mind would send out a sample to any tweaker who sends an email requesting one. A friend who found out about this site, sent an email and lo and behold got a reply saying “recently a lot of people have been signing up because of addresses sold on auction site and so please send us copies of your incorporation papers so we can be sure you are a legitimate company.
So there’s the link actually which will probably save you $5.

They really go through all that trouble for that?!!

Ah yes….purchasing my TR off a BBB/Verisigned site…the sweet smell of what? *authenticity* !!!
