First off, many many accolades to the moderator and the group for such a great forum.  I’ve been following for a while now and just got my TR3 from newegg today. 

All is well except I noticed that the there was some play in the Power Adapter plug going in to the TR3.  The lighted edge (pretty cool BTW) of the plug can be wiggled a little more than 1/8” up and down.  It appears that it’s not just a loose fit for the plug itself, but that the yellow female end inside the TR3 has some play too. 

Not a huge deal to me—powers and charges just fine.  Just wondering if you guys have the same on your TR3s and if it was some construction defect.

mine is like that too .... I think its designed like that so that it is a little flexible and not snap off

They all are like that. I was initially concerned, but when I noticed the charge went smootly I was at ease. As pointed out it allows the cord to move without causing damage…and that’s a good thing.

I spent a good amount of time in CompUSA trying out a TRA before I bought mine - went to the store 3 times…  I checked the power chord at the store and found it to have a lot of “play”.  At the time I wondered if that was just floor model abuse or by design.

When I brought my new TR home, it was the same.  My conclusion was the same as Zen’s - it was made that way vs a rigid design that would snap or get easily damaged.

Same thing on my TR2, but I’m glad for this, as I’ve damaged the power/sound board in my PowerBook G3 before by using it on a bed and having the plug pushed up against my leg. The play is probably a design choice, and I"m glad it protects the TR.

I would agree that it is part of the design.  THis same behavior is also in my SR and my SO’s Z1.
