My case is cracked, and my accidental damage warantee doesn’t cover it.  I can send it back to Sony to be repaired, but I don’t want to be without my TR for so long, and it could get exp.

So, does anyone know where I can get a copy of the service manual?  I’m thinking of just purchasing the outside casing (behind the LCD) and trying to change it myself.  Do they come in electronic form?

You can try calling Sony Service. I believe that they will sell you a copy of the service manual if you ask them.

I think there’s a PDF copy of the Service Manual for a TR2A in the ‘Files’ area of the ‘Sony_TR’ forum on Yahoo Groups.  I have a copy and could email it to you if you can’t find it there… I assume the case is the same (not sure about parts numbers) between the TR2 and TR3.

Also, I have a crack on the bottom case assembly of my TR2, and I ordered the replacement part from UCR, SparePartsWarehouse and they were great to work with.  I haven’t performed the surgery yet, but I will be doing so shortly.

FYI, it is a TR1A/TR1AP “USA & Canada” version service manual. I downloaded it as it is the best I could find for my TR3AP1
