For us here in the States…integrated bluetooth is nice (unless you already did the mod yourself).
I still think they are holding back on something (Dothan). Sony is just trying to hold people off until the new ULV’s come out. Then we will see a totally new TR…from the mobo-out! Seeing how they redid the 505, I’m pretty excited about what we may get in a TR6.
Drachen, do they allow the number 6 in asian culture?
6 is also considered bad…especially in Chinese culture. I don’t think it’s as bad as 4 but it’s generally skipped as well. 7 is ok. 8 is very good.
I think they should just skip the numbers and move to new letters. I think Drachen mentioned it before…the next version should be like TRX. Then, they can start from the beginning again.

Ahh, IC…so it’s not like us Americans who trample over every other culture. Good to know.
[quote author=“SKIPPER”]Do you have any information, i.e. link on the new TR series? I have been looking a purhcaing one for awhile, and if the newone is out or coming out shortly, I would get the newer model. Any help would be great. Thanks
The new TR was just released in Japan (or announced). It has a 1.1 GHZ proc., that about it. Search the site for the link to the Sony page. Its the TR5.
I guess we have no idea as to when it may come to the states. Does anyone know the pattern for the other releases of the TR series in terms of a Japan release then an American release?
Thanks again.
I think it’s usually around a month or so…you’ll start to see the TR3 price drop, thats when you know the TR5 is about to be released.
Generally speaking, it’s only a few months. The original TR1 was announced in Japan in June of 2003. It was available in the US (with features stripped out) in late August if I’m not mistaken. So, it’s very likely you’ll see these models available this summer or late summer in the US.

No more or less than Europeans absorbed little pre-Christian superstitions. Easter, Christmas, All Saints Day, throwing salt over your shoulder, the number 13 being bad luck, etc, etc. Remember that Imperial China was larger, longer-lasting and perhaps even more culturally influential in east Asia than the Roman Empire was in Europe.
Also, don’t be so quick to separate “us from them” in terms of religions. Buddha said “do unto others…” 5 centuries before it was absorbed into Christianity, for example. Christian ideas about angels, heavan, hell and the devil were heavily influenced by Zoroastrianism, which in turn influenced and were influenced by Hindu gods and stories. Buddhism itself began as a reaction to Hindu society.
Back on topic: They’ll probably want to have the new model out for the back-to-school rush. Then again, they still haven’t released the X505 in the US, and that model came out in December in Japan.

Some models are just not released. like the last of the C series picture books… PCG-C1MZX was never released outside of Japan…
I don’t think we will be missing much if they do not release it here since the only feature added is the .1 ghz
As long as they deliver on Dothan before the end of the year, I think Sony enthusiasts will be pleased. Just as long as they give us some of the features we lack in the TR now…like BT, Jogdial, maybe the 60GB HD, and video-out.
Well, heres hoping.
Drachen, that’s really all they are is superstitions. They have no real power except what people believe. Some religions really leave scars on people, even Christianity. Man has a funny way of screwing up what the creator intended. I could go on and on here, but it is not the place. When it is brought up though, I get energized!
Truthseeking is hard work (sifting out all the junk), but very rewarding to the soul.
Hah…that’s pretty awesome. There goes another product removed from Dynamism and other import seller sites. These guys must hate it when Sony does stuff like that especially when it has the same specifications.
The X505 is neat but I still can’t see a lot of people buying it. I’ve got the VAIO Type-S on the brain now although I’ll probably wait to see what comes after the TR5 before making the next upgrade.
