Found a few distributions of Linux that will do this..
The best one in my opinion is GeeXboX

less then 6megs..
boots up really quickly and immediatly starts playing the dvd thats in the drive.

The site has an ISO you can burn, and boot from that..
It will copy itself into ram, and then you can just throw a dvd in the drive..

A good way to test it..

Going to install it on my tr the second it comes in.
Looks like you can be up and playing a dvd in less then 10 seconds from power on… probably even quicker.

Is this just to keep the DVD on the TR or can you output (using extra hardware) to a TV?

All the TV solutions use windows not Linux (that i’ve seen for the TR).

This would be great, in my mind, if it could output to a TV and run right away.

Haven’t tried it yet..
Have only booted it off cd along with a few other alternatives to see which one I liked the best..
