So I bit the Sony bullet and bought myself a TR3A today!!  :mrgreen:

I tested it to make sure everything worked and was in tact. Then I started creating my Recovery Disc set.. now this is where I have a question.

Through out the forums the Recovery kit is said to be 9 discs + a start up disk.. The Recovery Wizard says “... burning disc # of 8”.. Eight? I thought there was 9? Am I missing something?  :|

Regarding the recovery discs, I have 10 (9 numbered + 1 startup..which is what u have also mentioned). All I can say is just burn them…may be it’s just some software error…finally u might actually land up burning 10 in all.

ok so I finished the Recovery Wizard and in all I have 9 discs :|  8 Recovery + 1 Start up.

I did not receive any errors after the Wizard was complete, I was only prompted to reboot.

May be ur TR model needs those many discs only. It would be great to hear the experience of another TR3A owner as far as the recovery discs are concerned. Or else you could do what I did…get on the phone with Sony and ask them to send u a set of recovery DVD’s. They sent me 1 set next day free of charge.

I believe my TR had 9 CDs as well.  You should be fine.

Well just to confuse the issue, my tr didn’t come with a recovery partition but instead came with three cd’s in the box….  :?

Does that make me special

are you sure those are not 2 dvd’s and a cd ?  It would then make sense your TR not having a recovery partition.

I think it’s dependent on the region. Mine is from Singapore and it comes with 3 recovery CDs and I can’t find any utility to create the 9 CDs as discussed in this forum.  :(

I think mine does not have any hidden partition, though. 

Is there a way to kill the partition and still keep all your data intact without moving it from the TR?

Not even 24hrs later… trying to reclaim the hidden 5gb and repartioning D: + hidden into C: I’ve already hit a speed bump :shock:  After that Win XP home was not even booting :|  oh well So now I’m performing the WinXP Pro install…

Well I’m not too worried as I didn’t plan on using any of the sony stuff except for power profile.  My third cd had all the sony libraries etc needed for the XP Pro install so it’s just fewer cd’s to stash away somewhere!
