So I have my TR. WOW. I turned it on and it found the network. I thought I would have to set the network up, as in put in my account details, but I didn’t and I am connected to the internet. Is this secure? I would have thought account details would be a must.

No, it’s not secure, but then it wasn’t when your Mac was connected to it either. Check out this thread for some of the basics on what to secure and why. Hope you enjoy your new equipment.

I have fallen in love with this machine. It is better than I had expected, I am like a child with a new toy right now.

I just used the AirPort Setup Utility on my Mac to configure the base station’s security settings, and it works great with my TR.

Okay, I must be stupid. I have followed the directions and now have a secure network. The trouble is I can’t use internet or email now. I don’t know what I am doing and am frustrated. Please help this windows newbie!

You’ll have to tell Windows your security settings. Click on “My Network Places”, then click “View Network Connections” on the left. Right-click your wireless adapter and select Properties. Click the Wireless tab and you will see the wireless networks control panel. Click on your network and click the configure button. That should allow you to put in your WEP key for that network.

If you set up MAC address filtering on the Airport, the easiest way to get the MAC address of the TR is to click on Start -> Run then type “cmd” (w/o quotes) and hit Enter (launches the console window) and then “ipconfig /all” and hit Enter. The MAC address is called “Physical Address”.
