When i was researching the TR, I couldnt really find a thread anywhere to see how much people actually paid.  Just for reference sakes, how much did you pay for your machine, no accessories, and when did you buy it?

I got my TR1A used but truly in ‘like new condition’ for 1,451 dollars.

My TR1MP bought in August 2003 cost £1,663 from dabs.com.

I’ll work on a list of the models. I actually had one at one point but realized there were so many more than I realized.

For the most part, there is some commonality among some of the models. For instance, if there’s a P at the end of any model it merely means that it has Windows XP Professional installed instead of the more common Windows XP Home Edition.

From what we know so far, nearly all TRs can be upgraded to the same specifications. We know we can add bluetooth, add upgraded wireless, add dvd burners, upgrade to 40GB (for TR1 users) and max out the RAM to 1GB. The only thing we can’t change is the processor. So, TR1 owners will have to stay at 900Mhz while TR2/3 owners get 1Ghz. Other than that, they all have the same basic “guts” inside.

I’ll see if I can put something together that shows all of the known models and what region they’re from.

Yes, it’s confusing to say the least.. I wonder how many versions there could be. We should all guess and see who comes closest

If nothing else such a list would be GREAT for people that are thinking about getting a TR computer.. Maybe have it posted as a link on the front page…. and then..and then..and then…

I spent $2099 including shipping and tax for my TR2A in November 2003.

I think I’m the “winner” here.  My PCG-TR3A costs $4299 AUD :shock: but I managed to get another 2 years in-store warranty on top of the standard Sony 1 year warranty.

$2337 for my TR2A in October 2003, I just had to have it right away, so I went for it at MSRP and ate the $100+ tax as well.

You guys just have to remind me ... $2099 (tax included + $65 Canadian for duties) ... but it’s all worth it!!!

$2199 + tax. I’m in the same obsessive-compulsive boat as Cellery.  :D

Well I just got my TR2 off ebay for £1295 with 1gig of ram and a semi-hard case.  It’s only two months old and in perfect condition
