I have a strange problem with a TR2B. The CD-ROM suddenly stopped working. It still spins when I insert a CD and the icon for the CD drive is still shown in the Explorer, however I am unable to read the content of any CD as the CD files do not appeear and it makes some faint strnage noises. When I use the explorer to access the drive the folder is always empty. In addition to that the notebook is no longer able to boot from CD. Has anyone encountered this problem before. I do not want to send in the item if it is not absolultley possible.

I hate to say it but it sounds like it is a mechanical problem. Before you send it in try updating the driver from Sony’s web site. I am sure other’s here will have more insightful options.  Good luck.
