I need a good pair, anyone have any experience with this?

I need some that work well in an airplane, and that dont kill my ears.

What about the sony ones?

My sister swears by the Bose QuietComfort. They are pretty pricy, though.

Quiet Comfort 2 - even better.  0% financing through Bose. 
Hands down the most comfortable for long flights that I’ve found.
Definitely pricy though.

I have these from Sennheiser.  I did my homework before purchasing and these came in 2nd to the Bose at half the cost.  I got mine specifically for airplane travel and they work great.  The only thing I don’t like is the battery contraption that is a part of the phones.  It’s not too bad once you’re settled on the plane but adds bulk to an already cramped space.

I have heard ntohing but good things about the Bose headphones. Pricey, however.

I don’t have headphones, but rather the Sony noise-cancelling earphones, the NC10. They don’t create silence, but rather cut back the ambient noise. I ride the subway a lot and use them with my iPod—it really makes a difference. The design alone blocks out most noise already without turning on the noise-cancelling feature, the buds being shaped somewhat like eaplugs!

They are not noise cancelling but rather noise “isolating”.  They are not cheap either.  BUT I LOVE MY SHURE EC3 HEADPHONES
