I am considering getting a TR… I wondered if there is a function to take a photo and store it directly on the memory stick?  It seems like maybe this could be done with the PC off or in standby mode.  Does the TR support this?

No, it won’t work like that. It will work when the computer is on…you can save directly to the memory stick.

Sorry, but IMO that would be a waste of a feature. I don’t know too many people that want to carry around a 3lb $2,200+ camera that takes less then 1MP shots…

But what I envisioned was more like this:  Since the camera rotates 180 degrees, you could be carrying the TR around closed, then snap a picture if you needed to.

IMO, I believe it was made for a webcam, especially with the built in webcam server options. As a webcam, its brilliant.

I was in the a garden the other day and wanted to show my mom something, she logged online, i clicked 2 buttons and wha’la, she saw what i saw. The rotating feature is awesome, i love it.

As a digital cam, i see where you coming from. And it would be most excellent if they made a removable webcam/digital cam with mem stick input. but so far, I think once you get the TR you will actually be impressed with the motion eye

Yeah I got my TR now.  The webcam is great.  I guess taking pictures with a closed laptop would be quite clumsy anyway.
