I just install the Netegriti Card a couple of days ago using GrOOvyOne’s great instructions.  The connection works for the most part, although it does seem a little slower than the Intel card.  This may be related to the other problem though.

The problem I have is that whenever I turn-off or restart the computer, I cannot connect back to the access point (a D-Link DWL-900AP+).  The Netegriti software sees my network, but I cannot connect to it.

What I have found that I need to do is go to my desktop that I have controlling the 900AP+, and hit the “apply” button, and then go back to my TR2A and connect to the network.

There is obviously some sort of conflict that I did not have with the intel card.  I have a Netgear RP614 router, and all components have the latest firmware that I am aware of.

Any clues other than perhaps needing an updated Access Point that supports WEP?

That is extremely weird. My Netegriti card connects to anywhere that I’ve tried. 802.11b/g/a networks, whether they’re secured or not, I always get a solid connection.

Within my own home, I have a DWL-1000AP, a Microsoft MN-700, and Sony PCWA-A500 wireless access points and they all work with the Netegriti card. Additionally, at “foreign” locations, I pick up stray signals all the time and use them when I can.

I’m wondering if there’s some weird setting that’s causing the problems. I haven’t changed anything on mine. I use the standard settings for the most part.

It wouldn’t be a matter of the Atheros software working better than the Netegriti would it?

Also, I haven’t uninstalled the intel proset software yet.  Could that be causing some sort of conflict?

I had a hell of a time getting the Intel card to finally work right - installing and uninstalling firmware updates, drivers etc.  for the DWL-900AP+, Netgear RP614 and the TR2A.  In that case, it would work for a while, and then, in the morning, for example, it wouldn’t work even though I left teh computer on all night.  Also, my connection was a little slow.  Using this board, I somehow mixed and matched things right and got it to work correctly.

With the Netegriti card, it works until turn the computer off or restart.  Then I have to do as mentioned above.  At least it is consistent in that manner, although it seems a tad slow as well.  Perhaps the card just doesn’t function properly with the DWL-900AP+.  The + part is D-Links proprietary system that they claim works up to 22Mps on a 11b network.

Baffling?  Perhaps it is time to upgrade to a 11g network?

Well, I’m using the Atheros software that was pointed in the link in this forum. I prefer it over the Netegriti software and it works very well and it’s less intrusive.

I would uninstall the Intel software as it does install a lot of stuff on your system and loads its modules whether the Intel card is installed or not. You should at least do that to help in the process of elimination for troubleshooting this.

Is there anyway for you to disable the “+” so that it runs at normal speed?

I am going to try uninstalling the Proset and the Netegriti software, and then installing the Atheros.

Regarding the +, I don’t believe there is anyway to disable it, but I am not totally sure.  I will have to go in and look.

Problem solved, I think, although it doesn’t quite make sense to me.  In the directory that contained the EM-500AG zip file, I had two directories that had unzipped files.  After I removed one, everything seems fine.  It doesn’t quite make sense that I would have to go back and reset the access point, but whatever. 

I can finally go take a nap! :D
