Nice links, VAOI Jet, but the Pioneer is a bit pricey just to play music.  On the Alpine link, I cannot read Japanese, but it looks good.  I can only assume that the Alpine costs just as much, though.  I would be concerned about the HD skipping over bumpy roads.  The solid state of the MS Pro would eliminate this.

I’d be more worried about hard drive head slap and thermal extremes than skipping.  That’s what huge buffers are for. 

I suppose what I am looking for may not exist, then.  I’m really not interested in putting a hard drive in my car’s dashboard.
